Thanks for your interest in Little Treasures! My mission is to provide a service that meets the needs of your whole family. I combine the benefits of what I have learned in licensed group care with the familiarity, flexibility and family focus of a home based program.

Meals and Snacks

I believe children (and adults) should eat a variety of fresh foods daily. My meals and snacks exceed the minimum daily requirements of the Day Nurseries Act. All meals are home-prepared and all snacks such as muffins and cookies are home-baked and contain whole wheat flour. The menu consistently covers all four food groups including fresh produce and whole grains. Beverages will be four ounces of either 2% milk or water, and water is available all day long.  Occasionally we will have treats to celebrate special days or make Popsicles with juice in the summer.

The children often help with the baking--they are more apt to try things they have helped create, and measuring is an early math skill!

I don't follow a set menu, because great food can cost a little more--I shop the sales at the stores and look for deals at the market. In the summer, the children help in the garden and we eat our own produce.

Children are encouraged try some of each of food and to remain at the table even if they are not eating. Meal time is social and should be fun. Seeing their friends try new things will often help them to expand their own palates, but they are never forced to eat. Healthy food is served all day long, and when they are hungry, they will eat!

If your child is on a special diet (such as formula and pureed foods) please send a full day's supply each morning, packed in labeled containers.

At this time I am not comfortable catering to a severe allergy such as nuts.
